"I am fascinated by the ideas of the inner being as they manifest in the unconscious, in dreams and in sleep. Especially the bed with all its implications, where the most decisive events of humanity take place, has marked me great source of inspiration for many years."

Dreams have always been an important point of reference for Liliane Tomasko and represent a blending of the past and the now. They have no history in the conventional sense, but all the more a sensual quality. The artist captures this sensuality in her paintings.

She always uses a spray as a preliminary drawing, which she applies to the picture support with spontaneity. Often the first layer of paint is painted into the still wet spray, the network of traces disappears, becomes denser. Control is not what makes the works, or what Liliane Tomasko is interested in during the painting process. Her interest in the painting process is the balance between this very control and all the conditions, feelings and incidents that occupy her during the creation.

While the works on linen often show a clear direction in painting, those paintings on aluminium are laid out in different directions, they are more moving, more open and their sensuality is sometimes a little more confused.
