Christoph Luger - delicate wall paintings

For the first time, bechter kastowsky galerie in Vienna is showing a solo exhibition of selected works by Christoph Luger.

Christoph Luger's works on paper are vulnerable, delicate and powerful at the same time. The artist applies his pictorial background to the studio wall by means of various layers of paper, enlarges and reduces the painting background by adding or detaching it, before he then lays his abstract, veil-like traces on the pictorial background with a liquid glue paint. Fine layers overlap - sometimes denser, sometimes more translucent.

At the end of his painting process, Christoph Luger detaches the "paper skin" from the wall - thus transforming his fresco into a panel painting.

His works appear monumental and intimate - in any size.
